ADEL PROMOTES FIELD DAY ON IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT OF WEEDINEIRA IN TEJUÇUOCA

ADEL held the day 4 july a field day with the producers of goats and sheep of Tejuçuoca. This activity is part of the project "Feeding goats and sheep with silage and hay in Community Containment Unit", carried out in partnership with the Association of Breeders of Tejuçuoca (ACRIA) and Community Association of Canafistula Farmers (ACAC) and funded by Banco do Nordeste do Brasil (BNB) and Tejuçuoca City Hall.

During the day, the importance of food for gonovinoculture was discussed and had the participation of prof. forage and pasture of the Federal University of Ceará, Dr. Magnus Candido. The event took place in the community of Boqueirao da Alegria in Tejuçuoca.

In order to guide producers on the practices of training and management of weeding, a visit was made to the properties of sheepfarmers, Manoel Araújo and Wanderley Braga.

On occasion, producers had the opportunity to take their doubts and know important aspects about forage species, training and management of weeding and conservation of forage.

Offering adequate nutrition for goats and sheep is of fundamental importance both from a nutritional and economic point of view. In general, the feeding of the herd represents 40 a 60% or even more of the total cost of production. That's why, the reduction in food spending has a direct impact on the final price of goat meat and ovina. Proper planning of nutritional management of the herd avoids unnecessary expenses and maximizes producer profits. For Helano Luz, agronomist and technical coordinator of ADEL, efficient feeding is important to achieve the improvement of the herd and the success of producers.
